Karan completed his Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Dundee. He then proceeded to complete the National Accreditation Examinations required by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. In 2012, Karan articled with the prestigious boutique law firm of Tarrabain & Company in Edmonton.

Karan has obtained significant experience in a variety of criminal matters, ranging from relatively minor charges (thefts, simple assaults, etc.), to much more complex criminal prosecutions including impaired driving, multi-complainant sexual assault indictments, wire-tap drug trafficking charges, multi-million dollars fraud indictment, and multiple attempted murder charges. Karan also has significant experience in dealing with various regulatory boards and quasi-criminal statues including the Alberta Transportation and Safety Board, Parole Board of Canada, Customs Act, Traffic Safety Act, Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Fisheries Act.

In addition to having an avid interest in criminal, bylaws and serious traffic matters defence, Karan also maintains an active family litigation practice. He has experience in all facets of family law including child custody, child support, divorce and complex matrimonial property division issues. Karan is often able to assist individuals in resolving their conflicts via alternative dispute resolution or other amicable methods and at the same time effectively litigate for the best interests of his clients if the situation necessitates. Karan quite frequently also takes on motor vehicle injury claims, immigration matters, wills and estates, and corporate/commercial matters on a case-by-case basis.

At Verhaeghe Law, one of the most sought-after law firms in Edmonton, Karan spends a majority of his time in different levels of Court including the Court of Appeal. Karan also travels to remote court locations such as Calgary, Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, High Prairie, Sherwood Park, and St. Albert. As well, he travels to other provinces including, but not limited to, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Northwest Territories. Karan is comfortable arguing various legal principles in a courtroom and is confident in his abilities to assist his clients, while maintaining the highest of legal standards.

During his spare time, Karan enjoys playing golf and is a huge motorsports fan. Karan is also multi-lingual and can assist you in English, Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu if need be.
