Rami Johal

Associate Lawyer

Rami earned his Juris Doctor from Thompson Rivers University after establishing a successful career in the New Home industry. While his work prior to law school gave him valuable experience, Rami sought a career that would make a more meaningful impact on people’s lives, leading him to the practice of law.

Throughout law school, Rami participated in both academic and community initiatives. He volunteered with the TRU chapter of Pro Bono Students Canada, where he worked on matters relating to civil, criminal, and family law. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Thompson Rivers University Students’ Union, where he advocated for policy reforms with a particular focus on inclusivity for Indigenous and international students. He was also awarded the Dean’s Course prize in Tort Law.

After graduating, Rami was one of only fifteen law graduates in Canada admitted to the Young Lawyers International Program. During his time in the program, he interned with the Enforcement of Patients and Health Workers’ Rights (EPHWOR), gaining first-hand experience in access to justice initiatives, human rights law, and international legal reform. He also taught in the Legal Assistant Administrative program at Campbell College.

At Verhaeghe Law, Rami’s practice is focused primarily on litigation. He strives to approach each case with pragmatism and unwavering dedication, ensuring his clients receive high-quality legal services tailored to their needs.

Outside of the office, Rami is a proud Edmonton Oilers fan. When not watching a game with his Olde English Bulldogge, he enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Rami is fluent in English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu.
